    The Regency of Buleleng
The regecy of Buleleng consists of a flat region exending from west to east with a mountainous area which begins at about 30 km into the hinterland to the south. Buleleng produces coffee, copra, cows, pigs, and fruits of which the so called jeruk Sumanga (oranges A) is very wellknown.
    1. The city of SingarajaThe capital of the regency of Buleleng is Singaraja, 86 km from Denpasar; Singaraja is located on the sea and its port, Buleleng, is lively with merchant ships loading export product like cows, pigs, and cotton bolls. At various places in Singaraja, there are also art shops and the market are crowded, especially during the fruit season. Around the town there are also ancient temples and with very unusual Balinese carvings.

    1. The beach of Ponjok Batu25 km east of Singaraja, or 109 km from Denpasar, we find a beautiful coast line with steep slopes and winding roads. Here and there the shepherds play their captivating flutes besides the cowbells. All is peace and harmony.
    1. Kebon JerukKebon Jeruk (Orange garden) near the coast of Ponjok Batu, has fruits in abudance during July/ august. A pura is located near the garden and if you relax there while enjoying the beautiful beach and gentle breezes, someone will pick some oranges and kindly offer them to you. Its 5 km from Singaraja.
    1. The beautiful of Air SanihA beautiful beach with a big fresh water swimming pool 17 km from singaraja. On the slope of the beach there is a palce for dances that can be enjoyed against the backdrop of the surf and the sand.
    1. Asah GoblegA village located in the hills between two lakes, namely danau Tamlingan and Danau Buyan. On the shore of the lake is a charming temple called Pura Ulun Danau. The slopes of the hills are covered with deep green coffe plants. For those whose hobby is fishing, the blue lakes are rich in fish.
    1. Pura PulakiA big pura, located on a slope near the coast, 50 km from Singaraja. To enter the pura you have to climb many stairs accompanied by many tame monkeys. During ceremonies the Pura has a very cheerful atmosphere (piodalan ceremony is on Wednesday Kliwon, uku Pahang)
    1. Pura SangsitLocated at the village of Sangsit, 8 km from Singaraja. Pura Sangsit is a rather big temple and cheerful during the piodalan ceremony. A special ceremony which is only found here is the “Bukakak” which is large procession in which “Bukakak” (a roasted pig on a stretcher) is carried together to the shore via steep and dangerous roads, but nothing happens to the bearers of “Bukakak”, who are all in trance.
    1. The village of Samsam and MundukBoth villages are respectively 16 and 42 km from Singaraja. An entertainment of the people is called “Gerumbungan” which is performed on every celebration of galungan “Gerumbungan” is a contest of cows wearing “Okekan” (cowbells) on their necks and beautiful decorated. The beautiful and captivating sound made by the movements of the cows gives this event a festive mood.
    1. Panji VillageFound only in this region, namely the “Gowak-gowakan” play which performed in this village during the Nyepi celebration (the Balinese lunar New Year). The play has been inherited from the ancient king Panji Sakti who ruled this region. It is performed on a long row, while a person acting as a gowak (a crow endowed with supernatural power) stands in front as leader of the line. The row shouts and sings, then dialogue develops between the row and the gowak, who makes its wishes known, which are then carried out, what ever they may be. During the reign of King Panji Sakti, the gowak who happened to be king himself, asked for the region of. Blambangan (East Java); there upon the people invaded East Java and succeeded in conquering Blambangan.
