Kuta Beach

Kuta Beach
Kuta beach is located along the Western shore, in the district of Kuta, Badung Regency about 12 km to the South of Denpasar, and about 3 km to the North of the Ngurah Rai International Airport, Kuta beach has been well known for many years, having been the choice of foreigners for their residence like Mads Lange, the Danish “Rajah of Bali” around 1900 and Robert Cokks opened hotels in the twenties.

The coast on the West side of Kuta is very attractive, particularly at sunset when the scenery is breath taking. The coast turns like a half circle full of white sand. The waves of the sea area not so big but there must be careful. Fore the sake of safety and security there is now a “Coast Rescue Team” which is assigned to give aid to persons in need on the beach or at sea. Coconut trees line the beach, waving in the warm sea wind. Off in the distance, one can see the mountains of Bali silhouetted against the morning sky. The tourist love to spend the whole day on the beach. Usually they swim and sunbathe in the morning until 11.00. then in the afternoon they sit on the beach from 3.00. until the evening, enjoying nature’s beauty and the fresh air and particularly the impressive sunset. Kuta is now full of hotels, cottages, bungalows and inns nestled in the trees along the beach. Many of the home of villagers of Kuta have been turned into home-stay which now number in hundreds to shelter tourist who stay there kuta has been transformed from that of farmers of fishermen to the life of small entrepreneurs. They trade art objects as souvenirs for tourist, open small restaurant, becomes guides who may bring the tourists to their destination etc, besides managing a home-stay. Dances are also organized regularly in Kuta. Such situation creates a paradoxes symptom. On one hand a small par of the population of said village will enjoy material profit, but on the other hand, rate competition – and prices wich are extra-ordinary low compared with the hotels rated for lodging at the other places keep most people poor.
