THE KECAK DANCE
Originally the kecak was a choir of mean who by their litanies cooperated with Sangyang virgin. The intention of any sangyang performance was that, the girl in a state of trance (semi-consciousness) would be capable of hearing and telling the wishes of the god or the ancestors.
At present this kecak is also performed with a special story (libretto). This story has beeb chosen from the Ramayana saga. Very condensed, the content of the Ramayana saga is a follows:

By intrigue, Rama, the legal heir to the throne of ayodia was exiled from the regime of his father Dasarata. Accompanied by his wife Sita and his younger brother Laksmana, he moved from his fathers places and went into a forest. Here he went trough many adventures and finally he was chasing a deer with golden horns. At a certain moment his wife Sita was left alone without any protection. Then she was kidnapped by Rawana, the king of demons. After that Rama with assistance of the army of monkey, attacked the residence of Rawana, called Lengkapura. The army of monkey were building a grige between Hindustan and Lengkapura and the Battle ended with the victory of Rama
