THE HISTOSRY OF GARUT REGENCY IN BRIEF

Once upon time in the year of 1883 Linbangan’s people were instructed to seek a site which would be appointed the capital City of Limbangan. They found a fertile region surrounded by mountains where there was a spring of a pond covered by brushwood. Many people were in plain while cutting open the brush, because of being scratched by Perdu plants. From that case the name of Garut was appeared since then it wan immortalized to become the name of capital city of Limbangan at Galuh Pakuan which is at present Pesir Huut. Gradually the name of regency also changed to become “Garut Regency” at the time of the transfer of the capital city from Galuh Pakuan to Garut, the first regent was R. A. A.
